Nemaa Koshuma, a Maasai tribesmen and leader of the vocal group at the Four Seasons Serengeti, debuts as our featured vocalist for our latest release, Embattled Land and New Youth Maasai. I met Nemaa while in Tanzania in February and set the wheels in motion for a recording as I was convinced his voice needed to be heard.
February's trip to Tanzania was very significant as not only was my husband able to join for the first time, but I was also ready to move forward with growing Voice of Maasai. While on safari, we admired a performance by the Four Season's Maasai vocal group. I was so inspired, I made an introduction with the General Manager and asked if it would be possible to meet the Maasai lead vocalist and share the goals of Voice of Maasai music collaborative. The GM showed much enthusiasm, I called Alex at the studio and then arranged the necessary logistics to get Nemaa to Arusha for a recording.

The real magic happened when Nemaa arrived to the studio in Arusha. Alex Lobulu has keen techinical skills but also unmatched creative vision when it comes to mixing and mastering songs. The two of them worked for a few days to combine the lyrics and instrumentals to create two unique songs that mash folk, traditional and some island vibe.
Alex's ability to capture poetry and transform it into sensory melodies is superlative.
